Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades football club were proud recipients of seven EXTRA awards â doled out annually to some of the most creative newspaper advertisements that appear in daily publications.
The 2004 awards saw the Renegades take home two gold, one silver and four bronze awards. All six ads appeared in local newspapers last year, attracting attention for their creative advertising spin. One of the ads, a gold recipient, was advertising a game between the Ticats and the Renegades; "This Thursday we're playing the Ticats. It's about as close as we'll come to hosting a ladies night."
"We are pleased and proud that the EXTRA awards recognized our advertisements," said Renegades president Brad Watters. "Our hard-edged, yet fun approach is what we can now see does appeal to our fans."
On behalf of the Canadian Newspaper Association, the EXTRA Awards are awarded to an organization for creative and effective newspaper ads. The EXTRA Awards are an annual prize, and have been so for the past sixteen years.
For the 2004 advertising campaign, the Renegades were teamed up with Bensimon Byrne ad agency.
