Dayton, Ohio-Registration is underway for the 4th Annual SUBWAY(r) Dragons 5K at Fifth Third Field on Saturday, July 13th. For the second straight year, SUBWAY(r) restaurants spokesperson Jared Fogle is scheduled to join the Dayton Dragons for the event.
All participants in the run receive an official dri-fit shirt, tickets to a Dragons game, two vouchers for a free six-inch sub from SUBWAY(r) restaurants, and more.
An awards ceremony will take place after the race. The top three male and female finishers will received a specially-engraved baseball bat.
The registration fee is $25 in advance or $30 during the week of the race. Kids age 17 and under can register for $15. Fans should sign up today to reserve their spot at daytondragons.com (follow the link on the front page) or by calling (937) 228-2287.
Everyone who registers for the SUBWAY(r) Dragons 5K before April 1 will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a night in a suite at Fifth Third Field for the winner and 14 guests.
The run will begin at 9:00 a.m. on July 13th at Fifth Third Field. Participants may choose to run or walk the course. Baby strollers are also permitted. The course will move through downtown Dayton and end back at the ballpark for a post-race party.
The post-race fun features a "meet and greet" with Jared Fogle, face painting, carnival and inflatable games, and more fun for the whole family.
"This is a partnership between two Dayton favorites-the Dragons and SUBWAY(r)," local SUBWAY(r) franchisee and Board Chair Jeff Vogelmeier said. "The event makes sense for both brands in so many ways, bringing together health, fitness, and affordable family fun. SUBWAY(r) fans love our FRESH FIT(r) menu, and Jared is thrilled to be a part of an event that promotes the healthy lifestyle SUBWAY(r) provides all day every day."
"The Dragons express our thanks to SUBWAY(r) for their participation in making this event a tradition at Fifth Third Field as well as one of the top 10 races in the Miami Valley," said Robert Murphy, President of the Dayton Dragons. "The SUBWAY(r) Dragons 5K has become wildly popular and is part of the Dragons commitment to family fun throughout the season, not only through our 70 Dragons home games, but also through the many additional community events in the ballpark."
Families and fans of the runners and walkers will gain access to the post-race party as well.
Jared Fogle's participation is subject to change based on availability.
