Regina Pats News Release

Week in Review:

January 27th, 2009 Regina Pats 3 @ Kootenay Ice 7

The second game of a four game road trip was goofy and frustrating for the blue and white. It began with a controversial goal in the first when Linden Rowat stopped an Ice shot from beyond the blue line that got caught up in his pads, was still forced to play it, and in the end it was the Ice's first goal of the game. The Pats dominated play throughout with 70% of the play coming in the Ice zone, but it was still a 3-3 game heading into the third. From there four straight goals in the third finished off the Pats with a 7-3 loss.

January 28th, 2009 Regina Pats 3 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 2

The Pats go from one of their most frustrating losses of the season to one of their most satisfying wins with a 3-2 victory in Lethbridge. The Pats took a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes with goals from Brett Leffler and Graham Hood while out-shooting the Hurricanes 19-6. From there it was cruise control for the blue and white as Jesse Dudas scored the winner on a bomb from beyond the blue line that eluded ‘Canes goaltender Juha Metsola.

January 31st, 2009 Regina Pats 0 @ Edmonton Oil Kings 1

It was another frustrating night for the Pats this past Saturday outshooting the Oil Kings 32-27 but couldn't beat Torrie Jung in a 1-0 blanking. Linden Rowat played well yet again with a 26 save performance and Matt Robertson had a ton of chances including a breakaway in the 2nd and a pair of 1-timers on the power play in the third.

This past Saturday, the Edmonton Oil Kings set a franchise record with an attendance of 13,765, many of those to see Oiler 1st round draft pick Jordan Eberle.

1-0 is not a good score:

The Regina Pats have lost by the score of 1-0 twice this season. The first came on December 30th in Saskatoon courtesy of a Braden Holtby shut-out. The second came in this past Sunday's 1-0 loss in Edmonton with Torrie Jung blanking the blue and white. The Pats have not won a 1-0 game this season.

AMHL All-Star game:

The AMHL had their 20th annual all-star game yesterday afternoon, and the Regina Pats had three prospects taking part. Bell missed the game with a shoulder injury as the South won 4-3 with Brandon Davidson picking up an assist and a minor in the first period and Guhle stopped 14 of 16 shots in the first half of the game.
