Lethbridge, AB -The Hurricanes will head out on their U.S. swing this week; which will see them play four games in five nights (Portland, Seattle, Everett, and Tri-City). The Canes will have several players making their return to the line up this week including Luca Sbisa, Dwight King and Kyle Beach. The return of these players is likely to add some extra energy to the atmosphere as the team begins a critical road trip through the U.S. division. The "Boys from the Bridge" will not make their return to the ENMAX Centre until Friday, February 13, 2009 when they take on the Kamloops Blazers. During the 2007-2008 regular season, Lethbridge notched a 5-0 record against U.S. Division teams. (Nov. 3/07 - Portland - 3-2W; Nov.7/07 - Everett - 4-1W; Nov.13/07 - Seattle - 3-2W; Dec.12/07 - Spokane - 2-1W; Jan.19/08 - Tri City - 2-0W)

Storm Warnings:

Welcome Back: Luca Sbisa has been returned to the Hurricanes from the the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers and is expected to join the team in Portland tomorrow evening. Sbisa played 39 games with the Flyers and had a total of seven assists and 36 penalty minutes. Back from injury: Zach Boychuk has returned to play after recovering from an injured ankle that he sustained at the IIHF World Juniors. In his first three games back from injury Boychuk has notched three goals and one assist. Back at it: Head Coach Michael Dyck, Dwight King and Kyle Beach will all be back in action on Wednesday night after serving suspensions. Colton Sceviour (23G, 36A), Dwight King (19G, 30A) and Kyle Beach (18G, 26 A) are the Hurricanes current scoring leaders. While Mitch Versteeg leads all Hurricanes d-men with 25 points (6G, 19A). The Canes will be visiting the Portland Winter Hawks for the first game of their U.S. road trip. This will be the first and only meeting between these two teams this year. In their last meeting on November 3rd, 2007 the Canes walked away with a 3-2 win over the Hawks in Lethbridge. On that night, Mike Wuchterl notched a shorthanded game winner to give the Canes the victory. Ironically, Colton Sceviour notched his last goal in a Portland jersey on that night.

The Canes will be matching up against the Thunderbirds in their only meeting of the season. This will be the Canes' first visit to the Thunderbirds' new barn, the ShoWare Center. Last year the T-Birds visited the ENMAX Centre on November 13, 2007 and left the rink empty handed when the Canes dealt them a 3-2 loss. This will also mark the first meeting of the season between Team Canada teammates, Zach Boychuk and Thomas Hickey. The longtime friends helped lead Team Canada to its fifth straight World Junior title at the 2009 IIHF World Juniors.

Saturday, February 7 - GAME NIGHT

It will be Kyle Beach's first trip back to Everett since he was traded to the Canes in early January. The Canes have not faced off against the Silvertips since November 4, 2007. On that night, the Canes were able to outscore the Tips, beating them 4-1 at the ENMAX Centre. It will also be the first match-up that the Canes have had against their former teammates Dan Iwanski and Alex Theriau. They were dealt to Everett in exchange for Beach and Mike Alexander who never suited up for the Canes and was returned to the Tips in exchange for a draft pick.

The Hurricanes will be visiting the Tri-City Americans at the Toyota Center for their last game of their four game U.S. road trip. The last match-up between these two teams was at the ENMAX Centre on January 19, 2008; the Canes defeated the Americans 2-0. It will be the first time that Drew Hoff and Eric Mestery will be suiting up against their former teammates since being traded to the Hurricanes in November ‘08.
