Tulsa Talons News Release

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Talons of af2, coming off a 49-42 win this past weekend versus Louisville Fire, received more good news this week, when they learned that OS Robert "Rabbit" Reed was named the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Week for the league. Reed (6-2, 210, Mississippi), 2-years experience, has once again brought the game up another level. In Saturday's game, Reed caught 10 passes for 126 yards and 3 touchdowns. Two of his touchdowns were back-to-back putting the Talons ahead 21-3 in the battle against Louisville Fire. Reed's third touchdown came in the third quarter with 3:57 remaining on the clock. Reed connected with QB Bob Bees for a 12-yard pass, giving the Talons a twelve-point cushion. Reed also recorded one kickoff return for 10-yards in the first quarter. As a Talon, Reed has recorded 116 catches for 1,462 yards and 37 touchdowns.

"Though this is Robert's first full season in arena football, he comes here as a well seasoned receiver. Having played at the highest level in college and pro ranks, not many people know how good Robert is. Although, I can guarantee that the player who lines up against him knows. I am extremely happy he is on our team and not playing against us," stated QB Bob Bees. "Robert has played OS, 2-way, DS and the Jack/WR position for us this year and was productive at each. Robert plays the game hard and physical," stated Head Coach Ken Matous.

Reed is the fifth Tulsa Talon to receive such an honor for the 2004 season. The last four individual awards won were Talons players Shan Jordan (Week 18) Michael Duncan (Week 14) Bob Bees (Week 12) and Bjorn Barre (Week 4). Bob Bees won the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Week and Shan Jordan, Michael Duncan and Bjorn Barre won the U.S. Army Ironman of the Week award.

Reed and the rest of the Talons finished their regular season at 13-3. They are now advancing to the third round of the af2 ArenaCup Playoffs sitting at 1-0 in the postseason. The winner of Saturday's game will move on to the af2 ArenaCup Championship game against the winner of Florida and Wilkes-Barre Scranton.

TALONS NOTES: The Talons will continue the 2004 season on August 21 at the Tulsa Convention Center for the third- round of Playoffs vs. Peoria Pirates.
