Wilkes-Barre, PA - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton head coach LES MOSS has been named the SFC USA, Inc. af2 Coach of the Year, as voted on by his fellow head coaches and members of the media.

Under Moss' guidance, the third-year Pioneers roared to team record 13-3 regular season after going 6-10 in each of the previous two campaigns. Moss led the team to the Northeast Division title, claimed the team's first-ever playoff win last Saturday over Cape Fear, and currently sits one win away from an appearance in the ArenaCup Championship game.

In his first season as head coach, Moss' Pioneers ranked seventh in scoring offense by averaging 51.2 points per game and boasted the fifth best defense, allowing 41.1 points per contest. The club went 7-1 at home and was 7-2 within its division during the regular season.

"Coach Moss is most deserving of this prestigious award," said Pioneers President Dave Berryman. "Les has made enormous strides for the Pioneers organization as well as the community."

Moss, 37, is one of the most experienced and respected coaches in Arena Football history. Before joining the Pioneers, he spent 12 years serving in various capacities with the AFL's Orlando Predators. During his career with Orlando, Moss helped guide the Predators to 11 playoff appearances, six ArenaBowl championship games, and two titles (1998 and 2000). He began his AFL coaching career as a video coordinator with the Chicago Bruisers in 1988. He moved to the Detroit Drive in 1990, where he handled day-to-day football operations and administrative duties, and was an integral part of Detroit's ArenaBowl IV championship team.

Moss leads his Pioneers in the American Conference Championship game this Sunday against the Florida Firecats. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. ET. Fans may log on to www.arenacup.com or www.wbspioneers.com for the latest playoff information, or call the team's administrative office at (570) 970-4232.
