Memphis Xplorers News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS-The af2 announced their first and second all-af2 teams today for the 2004 season, and three Xplorers had made their way onto the list. Kevin Prentiss and Joseph Crear each made the first team, while Dahnel Singfield was named to the second team. Every one of these three players proved to be major contributors in the most successful Xplorer team in af2 history.

Kevin Prentiss set franchise and league records all season long. His kick return efforts forced teams to realign their special teams approach. Prentiss led the league in return yards. Joseph Crear made the first team as an OL/DL. Crear was among the lead leaders in sacks. Dahnel Singfield proved to be one of the toughest defensive specialists in the league. He led the af2 in passes defended and was among the league leaders in tackles, earning a second-team honor. This is the first time in franchise history that three players in one season were named to the all-af2 teams.

"It is a real honor for all these athletes to be awarded by the league like this," said head coach Danton Barto. "I could tell at the beginning of the season that these guys were going to be a large part of our success. They put in the effort each week and that is why we were a winning team."

The Memphis Xplorers finished the 2004 season with a 10-7 record, including a close loss in the first round of the af2 playoffs to the Florida Firecats. Head Coach Danton Barto will be spending the off-season scouting for talent, as the Xplorers look to return to the playoffs in 2005.
