Dayton Dragons News Release
CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Reds' 2004 Winter Caravan will appear in three states and six cities as part of this year's annual tour. All stops are free and open to the public.
The Caravan will make its first public stop on Thursday, January 29 at Fricker's in the southern Dayton suburb of West Carrollton (5:00 to 7:00 p.m.) followed the next day by stops at the Lima Mall in Lima (noon to 2:00) and Flannagan's Dublin on the outskirts of Columbus (5:00 to 7:00). On Saturday, January 31, the caravan will visit the Louisville Slugger Museum in Louisville (10:00 a.m. to noon), Malone's in the Lansdowne Shoppes on Tates Creek Road in Lexington (2:00 to 3:00) and the Lazarus Dome at Huntington Mall in Huntington (6:00 to 7:30).
The Winter Caravan is the road version of the very popular Redsfest, which was held in December at the Convention Center downtown. The Winter Caravan provides fans with the opportunity to interact with players, coaches, broadcasters, chief operating officer John Allen, general manager Dan O'Brien and manager Dave Miley.
Scheduled to appear at all six stops are Allen, O'Brien and Miley, along with legendary Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Marty Brennaman, pitching coach Don Gullett and senior special assistant Gene Bennett.
Attending the stop at Fricker's in West Carrollton will be newly-acquired RHP Cory Lidle, highly-touted LHP Brandon Claussen and the organization's Minor League Player of the Year, which will be announced at the LaSalle High School Stag on Wednesday, January 28.
Veteran RHP Todd Van Poppel, fan favorite IF/OF Ryan Freel and rookie sensation RHP Ryan Wagner will visit Lima, Columbus, Louisville, Lexington and Huntington.
Beloved mascot Mr. Red also will attend each event, while representatives of the front office will be on hand to discuss season tickets and group sales.
