RedHawks Sign Tollefson and Edens

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed LHP Adam Tollefson and RHP Aubrey Edens to contracts, the Northern League club announced today. Both players will be in uniform when the RedHawks open a three-game series against the Joliet JackHammers tonight at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.

Tollefson, 22, spent last season with the River City Rascals of the Frontier League. He was 3-2 with a 4.57 ERA in 23 games (two starts). In 45.1 innings pitched, Tollefson allowed 30 runs (23 earned) on 47 hits. He struck out 44 batters, walked 19 and opponents hit .261 off him.

Tollefson began his professional career in 2007 after signing with the Chicago White Sox as a free agent out of Milwaukee Area Technical College. He pitched with the Bristol (Tenn.) White Sox of the Appalachian League (R), where he was 4-0 with a 3.11 ERA in 17 games.

Edens, 22, joins the RedHawks after completing his college career at Appalachian State University, where he was a four-year letterman. This spring, Edens was 6-3 with a 4.97 ERA in 14 games (13 starts). He pitched 76.0 innings and allowed 47 runs (42 earned) on 81 hits. Edens struck out 62 batters and walked 25. In his career, Edens was 12-9 with a 6.19 ERA in 64 games (39 starts).

Both pitchers are classified as rookies in the Northern League.

REDHAWKS NOTES...

RedHawks RHP T.J. Stanton was named the Northern League Pitcher of the Week for July 6-12, the league office has announced. Stanton appeared in two games for the RedHawks and notched two saves in the RedHawks four-game series against the Kansas City T-Bones over the weekend. Stanton is now 1-0 with a 0.44 ERA and two saves in 13 games for Fargo-Moorhead. Former RedHawks OF Jon Weber, now a member of the Tampa Bay Rays organization, is having a solid season with the Durham Bulls of the International League (AAA). He leads the I.L. with 27 doubles and is batting .288 with eight home runs, 44 RBIs and 42 runs scored in 77 games. Weber played for the RedHawks from 2002-03 and in 2007.
