JOLIET- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (24-24) scored three runs to erase a 2-0 Joliet JackHammers (20-33) lead and earn a 3-2 win before 3,845 fans at Silver Cross Field on Tuesday night.
The JackHammers earned that lead by scoring two runs in the 1st inning against Fargo-Moorhead LHP Scott Fogelson. CF Adam Klein (3-4) and SS Kevin Rios (1-4) led off with back-to-back singles. LF Brad Correll (0-3) walked to load the bases. 3B Andrew Pinckney (1-4) reached on an error in left field. Klein scored from third base for a 1-0 Joliet lead.
1B Freddie Thon (0-4) reached base on a fielder's choice. The RedHawks forced out Pinckney at second base, as Rios scored from third base for a 2-0 JackHammers lead.
The RedHawks strung together three hits against Joliet RHP Rory Shortell in the 2nd inning. LF Justin Justice (1-4) hit a two-out single and moved to second base on a single by 2B Carlo Cota (1-4). C Alan Rick (2-4) hit a single to score Justice for a 2-1 Joliet lead.
Fargo-Moorhead came back for the game-tying run in the 6th inning. SS Zach Penprase (1-4) led off with a single and stole second base. 3B Jeremiah Piepkorn (1-3) followed with a single to plate Penprase for a 2-2 tied score.
In the 9th inning, Justice and Cota grounded out before Rick pulled a pitch from Joliet LHP Devin Anderson (0-3) over the right field wall for his seventh home run of the year. Rick drove in two of the three runs for the RedHawks.
