FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed OF Tim Alberts, the club announced. Alberts, who was acquired from the Amarillo Sox in a January trade, is the fifth player and first position player to sign for 2013.

Alberts, 26, batted .319 with 18 doubles, nine triples, 14 home runs, 73 RBIs and 70 runs scored in 100 games for Amarillo in 2012. He tied for the American Association lead in games played, was third in triples and total bases (208), fourth in at bats (408) and fifth in hits (130). Alberts was named the American Association batter of the week for May 28-June 3.

Alberts batted .332 with 30 doubles, six triples, eight home runs, 72 RBIs and 59 runs scored for Amarillo in 2011 and was the American Association Player of the Month for June that season.

In his five-year professional career, Alberts has hit .313 with 80 doubles, 18 triples, 40 home runs, 248 RBIs and 221 runs scored in 380 games. He has previously played for the Washington (PA) Wild Things (Frontier League-2008); Joliet JackHammers (Northern League-2009); Sioux City Explorers (American Association-2010) and Windy City (IL) Thunderbolts (Frontier League-2010).
