TONIGHT: The RedHawks open their final road trip of the regular season with the first of a 4-game set at Round Rock. The trip will continue with 5 games in Albuquerque starting on Wednesday. OKC beat Reno 15-1 last night to take the series 3-1. The RedHawks were 5-3 on the homestand that included a split with Las Vegas. OKC's 15 runs matched their second-highest total of the season and the winning margin was a season high. The RedHawks scored 8 runs in the eighth inning, matching a season high for runs in an inning.
DIVISION LEAD REACHES 5: The RedHawks open this 9-game trip with a 5-game lead in the American South over Albuquerque and a 5.5-game edge over New Orleans. OKC, Albuquerque and New Orleans have all had a game cancelled without the possibility of a makeup, so they will play 143 games barring further postponements. The magic number for OKC to eliminate Albuquerque is 14, with 18 games remaining counting tonight.
IRIBARREN'S STREAK CONTINUES: Hernan Iribarren opened last night's scoring with a 2-run homer to extend his hitting streak to 9 games, during which he's 16-for-34 (.471). Iribarren has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 dating to Aug. 5, going 25-for-57 (.439) with 2 homers and 13 RBIs in that span. Since Aug. 5, Iribarren features the PCL's third-best batting average behind Iowa's Marquez Smith (.488) and Portland's Mike Baxter (.441). Iribarren has lifted his batting average from .240 to .268 in the last 15 games.
DAILY DAVIS UPDATE: Chris Davis is third in the PCL in hitting (.340), behind Jay Gibbons of Albuquerque (.347), who is currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The league leader is John Lindsey (.359) of Albuquerque. Davis is seventh in on-base percentage (.402).
TREANOR GOES THE DISTANCE: Rehabbing catcher Matt Treanor caught all 9 innings last night in the 3-hour, 20-minute game. It was Treanor's first full game of his rehab assignment after catching portions of 2 previous contests. Treanor has been on Texas' 15-day DL since July 24 with a strained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee
PITCHING LEADERBOARD: The RedHawks maintain the PCL's best ERA at 3.86. Omaha is second at 4.04. The RedHawks have allowed the fewest home runs (82) in either affiliated Triple-A league, 17 fewer than the closest PCL team, Tacoma. The only team to have more than a 2-homer game against the RedHawks is Iowa, which collected a pair of 3-homer games and one 4-homer contest in the season series, which has concluded.
