Round Rock Express News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Edwin Maysonet's RBI double punctuated a three-run ninth inning as the Round Rock Express defeated the Portland Beavers 3-1 in Friday night's series finale at PGE Park. The Express (54-73) posted their first series sweep of the season and the club's first road sweep since April 21-24, 2006, at Iowa. The Beavers (48-79) have lost nine straight against Round Rock.

The Express snapped a scoreless tie with three runs on two hits and a Portland error in the top of the ninth. Drew Locke walked to open the frame, and Brian Bogusevic followed with a single. Matt Kata lay down a sacrifice bunt and reached safely thanks to Luis Perdoma's throwing error which also allowed Locke to score and Bogusevic to reach third. A wild pitch plated Bogusevic ahead of Maysonet's run-scoring double.

Portland made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth. Ken Phillips delivered a two-out, pinch-hit RBI single to break up Round Rock's attempt at a second shutout in the series. However, Roy Corcoran induced a game-ending fielder's choice from Mike Baxter to complete the sweep.

Chris Sampson (1-2) worked around a walk and a single for a scoreless eighth inning and picked up the win. Starter Andy Van Hekken scattered three hits and two walks over 7.0 scoreless innings, logging six strikeouts. Corcoran earned his ninth save of the season and fourth in as many opportunities.

Perdomo (3-5) took the loss; he allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and a walk with one strikeout. Portland starter Cory Luebke allowed three hits and walked three with one strikeout over 6.0 scoreless innings. Greg Burke bridged the gap with a perfect seventh.

German Duran had Round Rock's lone multiple-hit game, going 2-for-4. Nick Green also was 2-for-4 for the Beavers.

Round Rock returns home for its penultimate home stand Saturday, opening a four-game series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at The Dell Diamond. Right-hander Jordan Lyles (0-1, 7.09 ERA) is slated to start for the Express, opposite RedHawks right-hander Omar Beltre (2-8, 2.53 ERA).
