Memphis, Tenn. - Oklahoma scored three runs in the first inning and breezed by Memphis 5-2 on Monday night in front of 10, 808 fans at AutoZone Park.

The first three batters the RedHawks sent to the plate all reached base and all three scored. Freddy Guzman and Drew Meyer each singled before Joaquin Arias walked to load the bases. Adam Hyzdu hit a sacrifice fly to center fielder Skip Schumaker, who threw the ball to third baseman Travis Hanson. The ‘Birds third baseman, however, missed the throw and the ball rolled past pitcher Dennis Tankersley and into the dugout for a two base error on Hanson. The error allowed Meyer to score and Arias to go to third. Arias scored on a Jason Hart sac fly to left the very next at-bat.

The first three Memphis batters of the night also reached base but the ‘Birds plated just one run with John Gall driving in Derek Wathan with a double. Gall drove in both Memphis runs, including an RBI-single in the third. Wathan went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in his first game as a Redbird at AutoZone Park.

Dennis Tankersley (2-7) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits in 6.2 innings. He fanned seven but walked four in his team leading seventh loss. Kelvin Jimenez (3-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Fabio Castro. Jimenez pitched 2.1 innings and allowed just one hit with two strikeouts. Castro fanned five and allowed two runs on five hits in 3.2 innings. C.J. Wilson nailed down his second save with a perfect ninth inning.

Chris Narveson (0-0), who was activated before the game, will make his first start for Memphis this season tomorrow night. Left-hander Derek Lee (2-2) will toe the rubber for the RedHawks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
