Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis finished off a four-game sweep of Tacoma with a 5-1 win Tuesday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Redbirds starter Adam Ottavino dominated the Rainiers through the first six innings allowing no hits and only one base runner on an error. However, Brad Nelson broke up the no-hit and shutout bid in the seventh with two outs belting a home run to right field. The âBirds rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to reclaim the lead on Bryan Anderson's two-run blast and added to the lead in the eighth thanks to a pair of Tacoma errors and three hits. Anderson has hit home runs in consecutive games for the Redbirds.
Ottavino earned the win with seven strong innings giving up just the one run on one hit with five strikeouts and no walks. Rainiers lefty Chris Seddon took the loss giving up three runs on four hits across 6.1 innings. Fernando Salas notched his sixth save of the year recording the final two outs.
Memphis hits the road after an off day tomorrow with an eight-game road trip to Sacramento and Fresno. First pitch in Sacramento is slated for 9:05 p.m. CT at Raley Field Thursday night. The âBirds send Brandon Dickson to the hill to face River Cats right-hander Fernando Hernandez. Memphis returns home for Memorial Day Weekend on Friday, May 28 to play Albuquerque.
