Redbirds Name 2006 Field Staff

Memphis, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds will welcome back the field staff from last season for the 2006 season.

Danny Sheaffer will return to the helm for the ‘Birds for his third full season as the team's manager. The former catcher was named the manager on June 10, 2003 and has held the title since. His record since taking over is 186-180, while his career managerial record is 387-411 in eight years as a manager, six in the Cardinals system.

Dyar Miller returns for his sixth season as the Redbirds pitching coach. Last season Miller's pitchers finished second in the Pacific Coast League in ERA with a combined effort of a 4.22 ERA, while striking out a franchise record 1, 090.

Tommy Gregg will begin his fifth season as a Redbirds coach in 2006. Memphis batters hit the fourth most home runs in the PCL a year ago with 164 long balls, while striking out the second least among PCL batters.

Chris Conroy will be back for his second season as the Redbirds trainer. The former Eastern League Athletic Trainer of the Year will begin his eighth season in the Cardinals system.
