ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Pinch hitter Chris Heintz delivered an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to give Rochester a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Indianapolis Wednesday evening at Frontier Field.

The Red Wings rallied for three runs in the ninth after Indianapolis had dominated the first 8 1/2 innings. CF Jason Tyner and SS Gil Velazquez opened the frame with back-to-back singles before both runners moved up on a Tribe miscue. Tyner and Velazquez scored moments later on LF Josh Rabe's base knock to right center.

Velazquez also scored the winning run for Rochester in the 10th. He reached on a fielder's choice, moved to third on Rabe's two-bagger to right and came plateward on Heintz's bloop shot to right. Rabe closed out the night 2-for-5 with one and two RBI.

The Red Wings improve to 41-25 overall and 21-12 at home, while the Indians fall to 35-30 overall and 20-11 on the road. Rochester increases its lead to six games over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the International League's North Division, while Indianapolis remains three games ahead of Toledo in the IL West.

Rochester's four unanswered runs erased a brilliant performance by Indians starter Tom Gorzelanny (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 SO), who registered a season-high strikeout total. The left-hander did not allow a runner past second base and retired the last seven batters he faced.

Tribe LHP C.J. Nitkowski (1.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 SO) and RHP Jonah Bayliss (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 SO) let the advantage slip away, but took no-decisions. RHP Scott Strickland (0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) was pinned with his first loss of the campaign after winning back-to-back decisions.

Former Butler University star Pat Neshek fired a scoreless 10th to pick up the win for Rochester. Red Wings RHP J.D. Durbin (6.2 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO) yielded just two unearned runs, but did not factor in the decision.

Indianapolis cracked the scoreboard with two runs in the third. CF Rajai Davis reached on a miscue and stole second before LF Rich Thompson and DH Mike Edwards drew walks to load the bases. C Carlos Maldonado then lined a two-run single to center as Davis and Thompson came plateward.

The Indians added a run in the eighth. Maldonado smashed a double to right field, moved to third on RF Adam Boeve's base knock to left center and came around to score on 2B Taber Lee's double to right.

Boeve paced Indianapolis, going 3-for-4 in the contest. 1B Chris Richard went 0-for-4, but drew a fifth-inning walk and has now reached base safely in 29 straight games. Edwards and Maldonado also collected two hits apiece for the visitors.

The two teams return to Frontier Field Thursday night at 7:05 p.m., for game three of the four-game set. RHP Marty McLeary is scheduled to start for Indianapolis, while RHP Scott Baker is expected to get the nod for Rochester.

The game will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com as Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley have the call. Thursday's pre-game show begins at 6:45 p.m.
