Red Stars Update Preseason Roster

Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars have announced today their updated 2016 preseason roster as the team continues training for its fourth season in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).

After opening preseason training on March 14 with a 31-player roster, Red Stars head coach Rory Dames and staff have cut down the preseason roster to 25, plus U.S. Women's National Team members Julie Johnston, Alyssa Naeher and Christen Press who are currently out-of-market. Coming off the best season in team history, the Red Stars roster includes 12 returning players from the 2015 roster.

The players no longer listed on Chicago's preseason roster are goalkeeper Jennifer Pelley and forwards Zakiya Bywaters and Joanie Sieja.

The Red Stars will head to Northwestern University on Sunday, April 3 to take on the Wildcats in a preseason match; kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (Central). Admission is free and open to the public.
