Record returns for Rush to Read

February 25, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

More than 6,700 students from Chicagoland schools earned free tickets to Chicago Rush Arena Football League games by completing the team's 2003-2004 "Rush to Read" program.

For the third-consecutive school year, the "Rush to Read" program encouraged third through eighth-grade students to read one extra book per month for each of the program's four months. Students then were asked to write a one-page report about each book they read. Any student who read four books and wrote four reports during the four-month period received a coupon redeemable for tickets to a 2004 Rush regular season home game.

"We are so excited to see the program grow each year," said Rush senior vice president/general manager Mike Polisky. "We had a record number of schools sign up to participate and a record number of students complete the program this year. It is great to see thousands of students using the incentive of Rush tickets to discover the joy and importance of reading."

This year's program ran from October 2003 through January 2004 and featured 157 schools from Chicago's city and suburbs. Teachers or administrators interested in enrolling their school in the 2004-2005 "Rush to Read" program may contact Shawn Sullivan, Rush community relations manager, at (773) 243-3463.

The Rush (3-0) travels to Indianapolis this week for a Central Division battle with the Indiana Firebirds. Fans in Chicago can watch the game, beginning at 2 p.m., on NBC 5 Chicago or listen to Tom Dore and John Jurkovic call the action on ESPN 1000.

The Rush returns home to Allstate Arena Sunday, March 21, at 11 a.m. against the Orlando Predators. Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the game, or any of the Rush 2004 home games, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
