Medford Rogues News Release
MEDFORD, OR - The Rogues finished off a four-game sweep of WCL South rival Bend on Thursday night with a team-record offensive outburst in a 16-2 win at Harry & David Field.
The Rogues (5-2) scored early and often with a single run in the first, followed by four in the second highlighted by OF Clayton Meyer's first home run of the season, a three-run shot off Bend starter Luke Schneider (0-1). Following single runs in the fourth and sixth the Rogues exploded for a 9-run seventh inning to pull away and seal the series sweep.
Meyer led the way for Medford with a 3-5, five-RBI night while SS Tucker Campbell, in his Rogues debut, went 3-5 with four RBI of his own. Catcher Tanner Lubach went 2-5 with two RBI, and LF Blaine Tanner went 3-4 with an RBI to contribute to the team-record 16-run attack. The nine runs scored in the seventh was also a team record.
Rogues starter Jeff Hardy (1-0) picked up the win with six strong innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out four. Relievers Christian Cox and Toby Woods finished off the game for the Rogues. Medford now leads the WCL South by two games ahead of the Corvallis Knights.
The Rogues meet the Wenatchee AppleSox on Saturday in the first of a three-game series. Saturday night is Dick Fosbury Bobble Head Night, presented by Airport Chevrolet. The first 1,000 fans through the gates get a free bobble head of the 1968 Olympic Gold Medal High Jumper, who is a native of Medford.
