Real Salt Lake Weekly Update

May 27, 2009 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release

Real Salt Lake Looks to Shake Up First Road Win Saturday at San Jose

After gaining its first away point of 2009 last weekend in the nation's capital, Real Salt Lake (3-5-2, 11 pts.) will look to take the next step this Saturday, May 30, with its initial road win at the spot of its last such triumph, Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., where the Utah side will square off against the San Jose Earthquakes (1-6-2, 5 pts.). Kickoff this Saturday evening on the campus of Santa Clara University is slated for 8:30 p.m. MT for a contest that will be televised live on KUTV 2.2 Digital / Comcast 111, beginning with the America First Credit Union Pre-Game Report at 8:00 p.m. Fans can also follow the action live via RSL's official radio partners: KALL 700 Sports (America First Credit Union Pre-Game Report begins at 7:30 p.m.) and KE BUENA 1600-AM.

As was the case matching up against D.C. United last week, Real Salt Lake will have a chance to eclipse the .500 mark all-time against an MLS opponent, the all-time series standing at 2-2-3 leading up to Saturday's contest. Real Salt Lake held the upper hand against the renewed version of the Earthquakes upon their return to Major League Soccer last season, the Utah squad going 2-0-1 in its regular season meetings in 2008 and tacking on another win during Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifying play. Last year's ledger included a gutsy 3-2 win at Buck Shaw Stadium on Sept. 27 which marked RSL's last road win in regular season play (0-4-3 since).

MF Jean Alexandre Hits the Field for Haiti

Real Salt Lake MF Jean Alexandre made his return to international soccer last Saturday, coming off the bench to play 25 minutes for the Haitian National Team in its 2-2 draw against Jamaica in a friendly match contested at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The RSL rookie nearly gave the Grenadiers the lead late in the match, only to see his 90th minute effort saved to keep the scoreline even. The friendly appearance was Alexandre's fourth for the Haitian senior team - and his first since last August - and should help pave the way for future appearances on behalf of Haiti during this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup.
