Real Salt Lake News Release

SALT LAKE CITY (Wednesday, January 25, 2006) - Real Salt Lake General Manager Steve Pastorino and Head Coach John Ellinger today announced the acquisition of a 4th Round pick in the 2006 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft in exchange for the rights to FW Jordan Cila. RSL now has the 2nd, 14th, 26th and 41st overall picks in the Supplemental Draft.

"We wish Jordan Cila the best as he returns home to New York," Pastorino said. "With all of our off-season moves, it became apparent that it would be a long shot for him to make our senior roster, so I am glad we could accommodate his desire to have the entire preseason to prove himself somewhere else."

The 23-year-old Cila, entered his second year as a professional soccer player in MLS with Real Salt Lake, making an impact in his first year with the team during the 2005 season, by scoring three goals and adding one assists in 12 games. The New York native notched his first RSL goal off of a cross from MF Luke Kreamalmeyer in the 44th minute in the 3-2 loss at Kansas City on July 16.

Just eight days later, Cila tallied his second goal of a quickly taken free kick by MF Andy Williams in the 25th minute in the 3-0 win over FC Dallas on July 23. He scored his third and final RSL goal in the 4-2 loss against the Kansas City Wizards on August 13. Cila made his Major League Soccer and Rapids debut when he replaced Jean Philippe Peguero in the 77th minute of the Rapids' 2-0 loss in Kansas City on May 1, 2004.
