Real Monarchs SLC Returns to Zions Bank Stadium to Face Fresno FC

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC (6-1-1, 19 points, 1 West) will look to retain its place atop the United Soccer League and the Western Conference on Saturday May 12 when it hosts league newcomer Fresno FC at 1:00 p.m. MT at Zions Bank Stadium. Head Coach Mark Briggs is set to lead his side in its effort to build its lead atop the Western Conference, USL.

An "As One Weekend" will take place on Saturday where ALL Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC Season Ticket Members are invited to come support the league-leading Real Monarchs and experience the club's intimate new venue, Zions Bank Stadium, absolutely FREE. Season ticket holders will receive an email with instructions on how to obtain free tickets and FREE parking to Saturday's Monarchs match. The Monarchs are coming off a come-from-behind statement 4-1 win over Swope Park Rangers on Wednesday night that saw the club move into the top spot in the USL's Western Conference. DF Kalen Ryden notched two goals in the win - his second two-goal game in 2018 - before FW Juan Ignacio Mare scored his second in as many games to help seal the victory.

Real Monarchs and Fresno have met on one occasion in a preseason scrimmage that saw Fresno claim a 3-2 victory over the Monarchs with an 89th minute strike after FW Chandler Hoffman and MF Josh Heard each notched a goal for the Monarchs.

Providing a potential highlight to the match against Swope would be another milestone reached by FW Chandler Hoffman as he continues his quest to reach 50 regular-season goals in the USL. Hoffman currently sits at 49 regular-season goals all-time, needing one more strike to become the third player in the league's modern era to reach the 50-goal mark behind Richmond Kickers striker Dane Kelly and Charlotte Independence midfielder Jorge Herrera. Kelly currently holds the top spot on the all-time scoring charts, having scored 66 goals in his career, leaving Hoffman with 17 goals to reach the summit of the scoring charts.
