Real Monarchs Sign MLS SuperDraft Pick Amferny Sinclair

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs have announced the signing of defensive midfielder Amferny Sinclair, Real Salt Lake's 45th pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract. Sinclair has appeared for the Monarchs in Head Coach Jamison Olave's two most recent home matches, a 5-1 win over Timbers 2 and Friday's 1-2 loss to Tacoma Defiance at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah.

"We are excited to add Amferny to our Real Monarchs 2023 roster and look forward to his continued growth within our organization," said Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran.

Sinclair, 23, officially joins Real Monarchs after spending the preseason training with both Real Salt Lake and Real Monarchs.

The Costa Rican native chose to pursue college soccer at Syracuse University, where he appeared in 64 matches during his four years with the team, starting every match of his senior season and logging 1,890 minutes. As a senior in 2022, Sinclair was named a team captain and helped to lead the Syracuse Orangemen to their first ever NCAA National Championship, ACC Tournament Championship, and ACC Atlantic Division Championship, helping to clinch the national championship match by successfully burying his penalty kick in the 7-6 shootout victory over Indiana University.

Sinclair has also appeared for his home country of Costa Rica at various youth levels, most notably at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
