Real Monarchs Re-Sign Midfielder Jack Blake

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs have re-signed midfielder Jack Blake for the 2020 season, the club announced today. Blake's signing is pending league and federation approval while the terms of his signing were not disclosed.

"We are pleased that Jack will be part of the Monarchs in 2020," Real Salt Lake Technical Director Dan Egner said. "His leadership, on field performance, and professionalism off the pitch would have been difficult to replace. As the captain in 2019, he was integral in the Monarchs winning the 2019 USL Championship Title, and we know that he will only raise the level of what this club is trying to achieve moving forward."

Blake, 25, returns for his third season in a Monarchs jersey after captaining the club to its most historic season that culminated in victory at 2019 USL Championship Final. The Nottingham, England native featured in 24 regular season matches for the Monarchs in 2019, making 22 starts and scoring eight goals while adding one assist. Blake also started and featured in all four of the team's Playoff matches in 2019 where he notched three goals and added the game-tying assist in the Championship Final against Louisville City.

Originally joining the Monarchs on loan from the Tampa Bay Rowdies in June of 2018, Blake immediately made himself a staple in midfield for the Utah side where he scored two goals in 23 appearances. Prior to his arrival in Utah, Blake played 501 minutes and scored one goal and registered two assists for the Rowdies in 2018. The midfielder has also spent time with the Scotland U-19s where he made five appearances.

"I can't wait to get back to work and defend our USL Championship Title," Blake said. "To be back representing this fantastic club and city feels amazing."
