
Real Maryland FC Announces New SYL Coach

Silver Spring, MD - Real Maryland FC is proud to announce the hiring of Coach David Edlow for the U16 Boys 2011 Super Y League Team.
David Edlow is the current Boys Varsity Soccer Coach for Northwood High School, is the Head of the Government Team for the school that coordinates all the state test practice and data to help improve student scores and teaches in the Social Studies Department.
Over the past three seasons, the Northwood Gladiators Boys Varsity Soccer Program has flourished under the leadership of Coach Edlow. In 2008, they were Montgomery County 1A/2A/3A East Division Champions and NSCAA National Academic Achievement Award winners as well. In 2009, they repeated the same accolades, but without the 1A East Division Championship.
In 2010, Coach Edlow's team was ranked as high as #5 by the Washington Post as they beat three out of the four divisional champions from Montgomery County, including the 2009 defending state champions of Maryland.
Coach Edlow received his education from Rider University in New Jersey where he completed his degree in Secondary Education. He soon followed this with a Master's Degree in Exercise Science from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
"We are extremely happy to have Coach Edlow on board with Real Maryland FC," says General Manager David Noyes. "We believe he brings a good balance of sport and education to the Club's program."
The first round of tryouts for the 2011 Super Y League Season begins on Sunday, December 19th. The Monarchs will offer tryouts for teams in both the boys and girls divisions from ages U13-U17. The tryouts will take place at Richard Montgomery High School Stadium Field from 10:00 am - 6:30 pm.
Real Maryland FC is a proud member of the United Soccer Leagues and has recently sent a number of teams to the USL's Super Y League National Finals. This past 2010 Season, three teams qualified for the SYL National Finals - U13 Girls, U13 Boys and the U17 Boys.
