
Real Maryland FC Adds To Arsenal Of Coaches

Silver Spring, MD - Real Maryland FC has signed former DC United and Carolina RailHawks Professional Player David Stokes as a new coach for the Monarchs.
David Stokes is a former Professional Soccer Player with DC United and the Carolina RailHawks. Prior to joining the professional ranks, David attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. He is a graduate with a BA where he majored in Communication-Media Productions with a minor in English.
While receiving his degree, David was a student-athlete who helped lead the Tar Heals to a NCAA Division I National Championship in 2001. In addition to being a student-athlete at a rigorous academic and athletic institution, David found time to play with the United States Olympic Qualifying Team 2001-2004.
After school, David was drafted by DC United of Major League Soccer. He saw some time on the field and was part of the 2004 MLS Cup Champions. After his stint at DC United, David then turned his sights back to North Carolina where began anchoring the defense for two seasons with the Carolina RailHawks of the United Soccer Leagues First Division. During his time with the RailHawks, David led the team into the playoffs and helped the team win the Southern Derby two years in a row. The Southern Derby was played between Carolina, Charleston and Atlanta.
David has won championships at almost every level he has participated in starting in high school and youth club soccer. A graduate of C. D. Hylton Senior High School, Woodbridge, VA won two Virginia State Championships and a National Championship with the U17 Braddock Road Youth Soccer Club.
David currently holds his USSF National Youth License and will go for his USSF "B" License later in 2010. He is also a coach for Great Falls and PWSI.
"I aspire to use my passion for soccer, along with my experience and knowledge, to teach individuals who choose to make this great sport a part of their life," says David.
"David is an upstanding individual that has qualities that every player and person should follow if they want to be successful in life," says General Manager David Noyes.
Real Maryland FC participates in the Second Division of the United Soccer Leagues. All 2010 Regular Season Home Games will be played at Lester Stadium at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD.
