
Reading Royals Finalist for UMASS Amherst\'s PRISM Award

Reading, PA â The Reading Royals qualified as one of five finalists for the University of Massachusetts Amherst PRISM Awards. The PRISM (Professional, Results and Innovation in Sport Management) Awards, initiated by UMASS Amherst's Sports Management Department, are presented annually to the major and minor league teams that best exemplifies PRISM ideals in the following five criteria: strategic planning, innovative marketing, community relations, customer service and employee relations.
Royals' general manager Ray Delia commented on being a PRISM Award finalist, "We are flattered to be included as a finalist for the PRISM award. It is a tremendous honor to have the efforts of our front office recognized in this manner. On behalf of the entire organization, we would like to thank the Sports Management Department at UMASS Amherst for considering the Royals for such a prestigious honor, and commend each of the finalists for their hard work and dedication."
Winners of the PRISM Award are presented with a trophy and a $500 donation will be made in the team's name to their charity of choice. Past major league winners of the award include: Houston Texas, Washington Capitals and Orlando Magic. Minor league PRISM Award winners include: Dayton Dragons, Sacramento RiverCats and Chicago Wolves.
The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition on January 25 and 26 presented by Coors Light.
