February 19, 2008 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Rochester RazorSharks News Release
(Rochester, NY)...The Rochester RazorSharks (10-1) continued their dominance at home at the Blue Cross Arena, extending their win streak to 42 games on President's Day, defeating the Rockford Fury (4-8) 121-96. Rochester was led by James Reaves' 21 points and 12 rebounds, collecting his 4th double-double of the season, tied for 1st in the league with Charles Ward (Wilmington). The Fury was led by Reggie George and his 27 points and 17 rebounds. The RazorSharks current home win streak is the longest in Rochester, NY sports history, which dates back to December 10, 2005, a 126-96 victory over the Maryland Nighthawks.
Rockford started off with a 10-5 lead halfway through the low-scoring 1st quarter. However, the RazorSharks finished the quarter on a 17-5 run and a 22-15 lead. The 2nd quarter was a different story as the RazorSharks went on a 13-2 run in the first four minutes, pushing their lead to 36-17. Then with 3:35 remaining in the half, Rochester finished off a 12-0 run and a 28-point lead, 48-20, their biggest lead of the game. Rochester led 61-34 at the end of the 1st half aided by their ability to get to the free throw line, out-shooting Rockford, 20 free throw attempts to 1 and making 16 of them.
The only positive the Fury were able to come away with was winning the 3rd quarter, 33-21. In the 4th, Rockford closed within 14 points with 8:35 remaining in the game, 89-75, but that would be as close as they would get. RazorSharks guard, Steve Hailey (Boston College) finished the game with 17 points, a personal season-high, and Sammy Monroe chipped in with 20 points and 8 rebounds.
The RazorSharks finish off their 3-game home stand this Thursday, February 21st at 7:05pm vs. the Maryland Nighthawks (3-8). Thursday's game is College Night, sponsored by Rochester's cable channel, CW-16.
