RazorSharks Named 7th Best Minor League Team

July 15, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Rochester RazorSharks News Release

Rochester, NY. The Rochester Razorsharks, who captured the American Basketball Association championship in their inaugural season, were named the seventh best team in professional minor league basketball by PROBASKETBALLNEWS.COM this week. The RazorSharks, guided by Head Coach Rod Baker to a 30-4 record during their first season of play, joined the top seven teams from a list of over 100 organizations from six different leagues.

RazorSharks forward Chris Carrawell, who was named the Player of the Year in the ABA, was named to the All Minor League Second team by the web site. Carrawell is currently playing for the LA Clippers Summer League team in Las Vegas.

"It is an honor and a tribute to Coach Baker and all of the RazorShark players," said RazorSharks COO and GM Orest Hrywnak. "The entire organization looks forward to the day we can become the best minor league professional team in North America."

"We are also pleased that PROBASKETBALLNEWS.COM recognized the RazorSharks and Chris. Both deserve recognition," added Joe Newman, ABA CEO. But I would be shirking my responsibility if I didn't comment on the selections. Yakima, Rome, Albuquerque, Nebraska, Gary and Ft. Worth had good teams. But none of them were better than the RazorSharks and four or five of the ABA elite teams. One day, hopefully we can match up and show this. As for Chris being on the second team, I'd go along with it if the First Team included Allen Iverson, Kobie Bryant, Tim Duncan, Dwayne Wade and Steve Nash. I'm not sure if Sam watched Chris in action." For more information, visit www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
