Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

The Corpus Christi Rayz are doing their part to bring Christmas joy to the Coastal Bend this holiday season. On Friday night your first-place Rayz host the Oklahoma City Blazers at 7:00pm from the American Bank Center before a Saturday night showdown with their archrivals, the evil Laredo Bucks at the special start time of 8:00pm. The Rayz currently lead the Bucks by two points for first place in the Southeast Division.

As part of a season-long effort to reach out to the Coastal Bend community the Rayz will be hosting several special groups this weekend. On Saturday the Rayz are pleased to welcome 100 area children whose parents are currently serving the United States Armed Forces in Iraq, courtesy of General Motors. As part of the event the Rayz will also provide a complimentary pre-game skating party, including refreshments for the children at the Champion Toyota Ice Center at the Memorial Coliseum beginning at 4:00pm on Saturday. The children will receive free transportation to and from the event thanks to the support of Corpus Christi City Council Member, Jesse Noyola and the Regional Transit Authority.

The Rayz will also welcome upwards of 500 fans to both Friday and Saturday Nights' games as part of the ongoing Corpus Christi Caller-Times Children's Christmas Appeal Program. In addition the Rayz are launching their Friendly Franchise Program this weekend with groups from Driscoll Children's Hospital and Fanin Elementary School. All are part of the Rayz renewed efforts to reach out to the entire Coastal Bend Community.

"This promises to be a wonderful weekend for everyone involved," Rayz General Manger, Larry Linde said. "We have renewed our efforts to be a leader in the community and provide a positive impact on the entire area. Events such as this will continue beyond the holiday season and will serve as thank you to our fans and our city."

Rayz fans looking for the perfect holiday gift are encouraged to stop by the Team Store located in the American Bank Center Arena. Immediately following the game Saturday night, Rayz players Bernie John, Dominic Periard and Dave Gilmore will be on hand signing autographs. Items purchased at the store can instantly become an autographed collector's item and make for perfect stocking stuffers.

Your Corpus Christi Rayz are currently in first place in the Southeast Division and have a remarkable 6-1-1 record at home this season. Holiday packages, Group rates and special discounts are currently available. Tickets to all games are available at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations.
