Rayz for hire

August 31, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi Rayz announced a brand new ticket sales promotion Tuesday afternoon that will have them literally working for their fans. The "Rayz for Hire" ticket campaign allows businesses that purchase Rayz tickets to put the Rayz front office staff to work for their company. The promotion will begin on Wednesday, September 1st, and will last through the end of the month.

In honor of the Rayz upcoming seventh season in Corpus Christi, any individual or company that purchases two full season tickets, or the equivalent in group or mini-plan packages, will receive 70 minutes of labor from a Rayz staff member. If the equivalent of four full season tickets are purchased, then the Rayz will send either General Manager, Larry Linde, or Head Coach, Ken McRae to perform the labor. Regardless of what the business is, the Rayz staff will perform the requested task at hand.

"We're showing everyone that we're going to be a blue collar organization this season, from the players all the way to front office," said Linde. "We're not afraid to get our hands dirty and work for our fans the way an organization should work for its supporters."

Since coming to Corpus Christi, Linde has already implemented several successful promotions, including the Rayz Rewards Benefit Package, which gives season ticket holders the opportunity to win specialty Rayz prizes throughout the summer.

"It's not so much that we need to reward our fans," said Linde. "It's more about having fun and letting them know that they're appreciated. Hockey isn't a regular business – it's a fun business. We want all of our fans to partake in that fun too, because at the end of the day, the game is for the fans."

Local businesses have already started lining up to take part in the promotional offer. Troy Ousley, President of Copano Bay Excavation, is purchasing his tickets and cashing in on the Rayz work offer. Upon his ticket purchase, Ousley will have Coach McRae and Linde working site inspection in Port Aransas for him tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

"This is a great thing for businesses and fans that support the Rayz," said Ousley. "I like the idea of having my team put in a hard day's work. It tells me a lot about the personality of the organization. Frankly, I don't know what's better, getting my season tickets or the thought of seeing Coach operate a dump truck."

The Rayz will begin the 2004-05 season in Austin on October 22nd, and host the Laredo Bucks in the first ever event at the AmericanBank Center on November 5th and 7:05pm. Make your plans to be a part of all 30 Corpus Christi Rayz home dates this season and cash in on the Rayz Rewards Season Ticket Benefit Package or "Rayz for Hire" program today. Group rates and corporate sponsorship packages are currently available. For more information, please contact the Rayz at (361) 814-PUCK or log on to the Rayz website at www.ccrayz.com.
