The Princeton Rays knocked off the Bluefield Blue Jays, 4-3, on August 15 at Hunnicutt Field. Bluefield scored first with one run in the fifth and two in the seventh. The Rays scored three runs in the sixth and one in the ninth inning to get the win. The winning pitcher for the Rays is Alberto Casanas. Joe Claver takes the loss for the Blue Jays.
In the Appalachian League East, the Rays are second, at 30-22, behind Pulaski, at 31-21. The Blue Jays are last in the East at 20-31.
The Blue Jays scored first with one run in the fifth by Andres Sotillo as Rodrigo Orozco grounded out. The Rays put three runs on the board in the sixth. Peter Maris scored first. Zac Law and Blair Beck made it home from a single by David Rodriguez. In the seventh, Bluefield scored two runs from a fielding error by Brett Sullivan as Dean Bell and Orozco made it home. The Rays sealed the win with a run in the ninth as Angel Perez scored from a single by Maris.
