Mississippi Braves News Release

GREENVILLE, SC -- A night after the Greenville Braves scored the game winning run with a two-out walk in the ninth, the Orlando Rays returned the favor in picking up a 5-4 decision Saturday evening at Greenville Municipal Stadium. Dan Grummit took a Billy Sylvester (1-2) pitch off his arm with the bases loaded and two down that proved to be the game winner.

After failing to score a run last night, the Rays jumped on starter Chris Waters for three first inning runs. Jesus Feliciano led off with a single, and Dan Dement followed with a double off the left field wall. Juan Salas then smacked the first pitch that he saw deep to right for a three run homerun.

The G-Braves erupted for three runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Jason Fitzgerald got things going with a walk, and advanced to second on an Orlando starter Jose Veras balk. After Bill McCarthy popped out to first, Greenville got three singles in a row from Cory Aldridge, Richard Lewis, and Pete Orr. Aldridge plated Fitzgerald with his hit then came around on Orr's shot up the middle.

Greenville took the lead in the fifth when Ryan Langerhans scored on James Jurries' single to center. But, Feliciano collected his fifth hit of the series in the seventh, an RBI single off of reliever Brett Evert, that knotted the game at four.

John Benedetti (4-5) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win, and Josh Parker got the final three outs for his third save of the season.
