Bristol White Sox News Release

The Bristol White Sox were more than happy Thursday night to be back home after a suffering a three-game sweep at the hands of the Elizabethton Twins, part of a six-game losing streak, and looked to get their third win of the season, against the Princeton Rays. The White Sox took a 4-2 lead with a big three-run fifth inning.

Corey Thompson led off the inning with a single and Joey DeMichele doubled Thompson home. DeMichele scored on a throwing error by the Rays.

Nick Basto later knocked in a run in the inning for the White Sox. The White Sox hit a brick wall in the seventh inning. After six innings of five-hit and two-run ball, starting pitcher Todd Kibby headed to the dugout hoping the White Sox bullpen could hold his lead.

Kevin Moran came on in relief for the White Sox. Moran didn't have his best night in a rehab appearance. Moran walked three and gave up four runs, and after only retiring one batter, was pulled by manager Pete Rose Jr.

James Hudelson came on in relief and gave up two unearned runs which put the White Sox down 8-4. The Rays would add another run in the top of the ninth, as the White Sox fell 9-4 to the Rays. William Gabay picked up the win for the Rays as Moran suffered the loss for the White Sox.

Basto went two for three with a triple and an RBI for the White Sox. The White Sox fell to 2-8 on the season and the Rays improved to 7-3. The White Sox will be back in action Friday night against the Rays, when they will welcome "Rocket" Ron Necciai back to Bristol to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his 27-strikeout, nine-inning performance against the Welch Miners in May 1952.
