Odessa Jackalopes News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - In the seventh of twelve scheduled regular season meetings between the two teams this year, the Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Corpus Christi IceRays Wednesday by a final score of 6-3 at American Bank Center in Corpus Christi. With the loss, the Jackalopes fell to 6-35-3 overall this season and with 15 points, remain alone in sixth place in the NAHL's South Division standings.

Odessa's Matt Volonnino opened the scoring just over one minute into the first period on a rebound score assisted by Dylan Rosen and Mike Mezzano, but Corpus Christi responded with three first period goals, two from Nick Monfiels, to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, two IceRays goals, one from Mike Economos at 13:40 and an unassisted Eric Purcell score in the frame's final minute, bookended Brett Wagner's first NAHL tally at 18:56 to send the playoff hopeful 'Rays into the second intermission up 5-1.

After the two teams traded goals in the third, with Rudy Sulmonte's second tally of the night giving way to Corey Hoffman's first-ever NAHL goal at 9:29, Corpus Christi skated away with a 6-3 win and two critical points in the standings as the IceRays try to hold off the idle Wichita Falls Wildcats for the South Division's final playoff spot.

Next up for the Jacks, it's a Friday rematch with the IceRays with the opening faceoff set for 7:05 pm at American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

In 2012-13, the Odessa Jackalopes drop the puck on their second season as a member of the North American Hockey League. Season ticket packages for the Jacks' sophomore campaign are available now starting at just $179.
