Rays Report #2: Road Trip

The Corpus Christi IceRays are once again loading up the bus for a set of road games. Before the team departs, get all caught up on the hockey action from this past week.

LAST WEEK: The Rays began their seven-game road trip with two games in Frisco against the South Division leading Texas Tornado.

In Friday's game, Jimmy Kruger made 27 saves and the Texas Tornado won their 13th game in a row, 3-1, over the Corpus Christi IceRays at the Dr. Pepper Arena on Friday night. Jonathan Sdao scored his third goal of the season and Pheonix Copley made 36 saves in the losing effort.

In Saturday's game, Texas exploded for seven goals and Jake Stafford pitched his second shutout in as many outings as the Tornado defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays, 7-0, at the Dr Pepper Arena on Saturday night. J.D. Howard and Alec Thieda each had two tallies for the Tornado. Marco Wieser made 38 saves in the loss for Corpus Christi.

AROUND THE SOUTH DIVISION: Corpus Christi currently sits fifth in the South Division with a record of 7-11-2 (16 points).

TRANSACTION REPORT: Defenseman Casey Rogers (Monero Valley, CA) was released. Rogers signed with the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).

BEAU LEADS THE LEAGUE: Through 20 games played, Beau Walker (West Richland, WA) leads the NAHL with 11 power-play assists.

ATTENDANCE IS TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: Corpus Christi leads the entire NAHL with an average attendance of 3,250 fans per game. Through 10 games (8 at the American Bank Center), over 32 Thousand fans have watched the IceRays at home in their first season in the league.

WHAT'S ON TAP? The team will continue their season-long, seven-game road trip on Thursday November 18th and Friday November 19th in Rio Rancho, NM against the New Mexico Mustangs with both games beginning at 8:30 PM CT. Fans can listen to all the action with the voice of the IceRays, Ryan Holt, beginning 15 minutes prior to the game on the Rays flagship station, News/Talk 1440 AM KEYS.
