
Rays Lose to Kingsport

The Kingsport Mets beat the Princeton Rays, 7-4, at Hunnicutt Field on July 17. Kingsport put four runs on the board in the 1st inning, one in the 2nd, and two in the 7th. The Rays scored one run in the 1st, one in the 5th, one in the 7th, and one in the 8th.
At 13-9, the Princeton Rays are second in the Appalachian League East behind the Pulaski Yankees, who are 15-9. Kingsport is second in the Appalachian League West at 12-11. They are behind the Greeneville Astros, who are 12-10.
The Mets scored four runs in the 1st inning. The first came from Luis Carpio off of a double by Dash Winningham. Winningham scored from a double by Kevin Kaczmarski. Gregory Valencia singled to bring Patrick Mazeika and Kaczmarski home. For the Rays in the 1st inning, Peter Maris scored off of a hit by Brett Sullivan. Kingsport scored again in the second by Raphael Ramirez from a single by Winningham. Bill Pujols, for the Rays, made it home after a single by Zac Law. In the 7th, the Mets brought Mazeika home from a double by Ivan Wilson. Wilson scored off of a fielding error. The Rays continued to try to come back with a run in the 7th. Kewby Meyer scored on a balk. There was one more run for the Rays in the 8th by Landon Cray from a sacrifice fly by Sullivan.
