Rays Beat Bluefield

The Princeton Rays knock off the Bluefield Blue Jays, 10-7, on July 30 at Hunnicutt Field. Bluefield scored two runs in the 1st, one in the 2nd, two in the 3rd, and two in the 7th. Princeton scored three in the 1st, one in the 3rd, two in the 5th, one in the 6th, and three in the 8th. The win goes to Andrew Woeck for the Rays. Tyler Burden takes the loss for the Blue Jays.

The Princeton Rays are second in the Appalachian League East standings at 21-15, behind the Pulaski Yankees, who are 22-15. The Bluefield Blue Jays are fourth in the East at 17-20.

In the 1st, Bluefield scored two runs. Rodrigo Orozco scored off of a fly ball by Gabriel Clark and Yeltsin Gudino made it home from a single by Christian Williams. Princeton put three on the board in the 1st. Zac Law scored by a ground out by Brett Sullivan. Blair Beck hit a home run, bringing Landon Cray home. Bluefield's Orozco scored in the 2nd off of a double by Gudino. In the 3rd, Bluefield put two runs on the board. Williams scored off of a single by DJ McKnight and McKnight made it home from a single by Aaron Attaway. In the 3rd, Blair Beck, for the Rays, made it home from a single by Kewby Meyer. In the 5th, the Rays' Brett Sullivan hit a home run. David Olmedo-Barrera made it home as Jose Rojas was hit by a pitch. In the 6th, Sullivan, for the Rays, made it home off of a wild pitch. Bluefield scored two in the 7th. Clark and Williams made it home from a single by Aaron Attaway. In the 8th, the Rays put three on the board. Peter Maris scored off of a double by Landon Cray. Cray made it home from a single by Beck. Beck scored from a single by Olmedo-Barrera.
