Visalia, CA - The Rawhide got a big night from Gavin Conticello and held on to defeat Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday night, edging the Quakes 3-2 at Valley Strong Ballpark.

Conticello had a two-run blast in the first and a decisive two-out RBI single in the fifth, as he drove in all three Visalia runs, helping to end Rancho's three-game winning streak.

Rancho starter Christian Romero (5-2) pitched well over five innings, giving up three runs, but suffered his second straight defeat.

The Quakes had RBI hits from Jose Izarra in the second and Wilman Diaz in the eighth, but left the tying run at third in each of the last two innings.

Visalia reliever Gustavo Del Pozo struck out Simon Reid to end the game, notching his third save, while Visalia's Luis Tejada (3-4) was credited with the win.

Jared Karros (2-4) will go to the mound on Thursday for the Quakes (19-25, 58-52) at 6:30pm, in game three of the six-game set. The Rawhide will counter with Yoscar Pimentel (3-3).

The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 22, taking on Lake Elsinore in a six-game series.
