COLUMBUS, GA (January 14, 2010) - Proving that leadership never takes time off, the Columbus Lions of the Southern Indoor Football League are proud to announce that they have brought back one of the original cast members from their inaugural season in defensive back Eddie Ravenell.

Eddie Ravenell (6'0 220, North Carolina A&T) was once the physical enforcer on a defense that led Columbus to the brink of winning the WIFL Championship back in 2007. Despite only playing in nine games, Ravenell was known for his bone-jarring hits on opposing defenders. That season he finished third on the club in interceptions with four while raking in 21.5 tackles (17 solo).

In 2008 Eddie was set to re-join the Lions and did so seeing action in six games but had to leave the club early amid personal reasons. During his stint in 08, Ravenell grabbed two more interceptions while also notching 1.5 sacks. A graduate of North Carolina A&T, Eddie also garnered 1st Team All-MEAC for the Aggies.

"Bringing Eddie in is like bringing in a new defensive coordinator," says Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson. "With him re-teaming up with Damian and Ramone, our secondary will be the strong point of our defense as we enter training camp."

Columbus also added Joshua Chambers (6'2 265, Alabama State) to the defensive line. Chambers was once one of the forty-seven FCS alumni athletes drafted by the Alabama squad in the proposed All American Football League (AAFL) back in January of 2008. Josh saw limited action last season with the Odessa Roughnecks of the IFL.

Columbus Lions 2010 season tickets are still on sale for as low as $56. Call the Lions front office at 706-322-3336 or visit them at www.columbuslions.net for more details.
