Rattlers Travel to New Jersey this Saturday

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers travel to play the New Jersey Pride on Saturday, July 19th at Yurcak Field at 7:30 p.m. The contest will be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet. The Rattlers will hold a Viewing Party at Nathaniel's Pub (251 Exchange Blvd.). The game also will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.

The Rattlers are 14-7 all-time against the Pride but have lost the last two meetings, which includes a 16-12 setback on June 14th at PAETEC Park. In the last meeting, New Jersey rookie Matt Danowski led the way with two goals and three assists to earn Bud Light MVP Player of the Game honors. The Pride's Merrick Thomson and Greg Peyser also scored four goals apiece. Pride goaltender Rob Scherr had 24 saves to earn his first win of the season.

Rochester (5-3) has won two of its last three games, which includes a 19-6 win over Washington last Saturday. The Washington Bayhawks were held to a franchise-record low six goals in their loss against the Rattlers.

With the victory, Rochester moved into a tie for second in the Eastern Conference. Mike Levin was named the MLL Goalkeeper of the Week, as he made 11 saves and limited the Bayhawks to five goals. Jeff Zywicki led the balanced attack with three goals and two assists. In all, nine different players scored for Rochester.

John Grant continues to lead the MLL with 38 points after eight games, while Brodie Merrill is tied for the scoring lead among defensemen (nine points). Further, Alex Smith is second in the league with 57 ground balls. Merrill, Grant and Joe Walters were named to the MLL All-Star Game.

New Jersey enters the game tied for fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 3-5 record. The Pride dropped their last game, 16-11, on July 10th to the Philadelphia Barrage. New Jersey has now lost two of its last three games.

Merrick Thomson is sixth in the MLL with 32 points. He is also tied for first in the MLL with John Grant and Kevin Leveille (Chicago) with 27 goals. Rookie Matt Danowski has 19 points in just six games. Danowski was added to the MLL All-Star Game on Wednesday. He joined teammates Merrick Thomson and Rob Scherr.

Rochester hosts the Boston Cannons on Saturday, July 26th at 7:30 p.m. at PAETEC Park. The game is the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. The contest will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Casey Powell player card, courtesy of Bud Light. Fans can also arrive early and enjoy the pregame party with live music from the Paul Cummings Band on Big Dog Country Night. After the game, the Rattlers' official postgame party will be held at The Distillery at 1142 Mt. Hope Ave.
