
Dragons Face Denver Outlaws this Saturday

Burlingame, CA -The San Francisco Dragons host the Denver Outlaws this Saturday, July 19 at Spartan Stadium. Face-off is 7 PM. The contest will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet West.
The Dragons and Outlaws are currently tied in their all-time series at 4-4. The Outlaws have won the first two meetings in Denver this year (19-16 on June 14th and 10-9 on July 4th).
San Francisco (2-6) is coming off a solid 17-14 win over Chicago last Saturday. The Dragons took the first goal and never surrendered the lead for the first time this season.
With the victory, San Francisco moved back into third place in the Western Conference. Midfielder Bill McGlone was named the Bud Light MVP with a 3 goal and1 assist performance. MLL All Star attackman Jake Byrne led the team with 5 points: 2 goals, 1 2 point goal and 1 assist. Midfielder Sean Lindsay had 2 goals and one assist as midfielders Tim Booth and Lewis Ratcliff posted 2 goals each in the win. Newly claimed Dragon attackman Xander Ritz netted 2 goals in his first appearance for the Dragons.
In week 9 of the Major League Lacrosse season, Byrne leads the Dragons with 24 points (15 goals, 4 - 2point goals and 5 assists) and Ratcliff is second with 17 points (15 goals and 2 assists). Midfielder Tim Booth has 15 points (12 goals and 3 assists). Booth is also 5 for 13 in face-offs. Midfielders Matt Lalli (9 goals and 5 assists for 14 points) and Brendan Loftus (11 goals) have made solid impacts as rookies. Face-off specialist Greg Gurenlian is 115/224 on face-offs (.513%), has 5 goals and 32 groundballs. Dragons' captain, Matt Vallone has a .489 save percentage in goal while defenseman captain and MLL All Star Eric Martin has 34 groundballs and 2 goals plus 3 assists.
Byrne leads the MLL with most 2 point goals scored (4). Byrne and Martin were named to the MLL All-Star Game. This is Byrne's first appearance and Martins' second.
The Outlaws are currently first in the Western Conference with a 6-3 record. Denver was handed a big loss (16-6) by the LA Riptide last weekend with their biggest goal deficit this year. Midfielder Brian Langtry continues to be Denver's scoring leader with 36 points (15 goals, 3 - 2point goals and 18 assists). Attackman Brendan Mundorf is second on the Outlaws scoreboard with 23 goals and 11 assists followed by Attackman Ryan Powell with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points. Attackman Drew Westervelt follows Powell with 21 goals and 3 assists for 24 points. Specialist Geoff Snider has .489% on 131/268 face-offs, 7 goals and leads the Outlaws with 55 groundballs. Defenseman Zach Jungers has scooped up 28 ground balls and goalie Jesse Schwartzman has a .548 save percentage.
San Francisco travels to Long Island on Saturday, July 26th at 7PM (ET) for the first meeting of these two teams this season. The contest will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet West. The Dragons return to Spartan Stadium for their final home game against Los Angeles Riptide on Saturday, August 2.
