ITS ABOUT TIME After defeating the Chicago Machine by a 17-14 margin on Saturday night, the San Francisco Dragons snapped a season-long four-game losing streak. Ironically, their last win before the skid came against Chicago in overtime in June. Bill McGlone was named as the Bud Light MVP in the victory.
NOT SO SUPER SIX The Washington Bayhawks were held to a season-low six goals in their loss against the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday night. It was the third time in the teams eight-year history that the Bayhawks have been held to six or fewer points. The Bayhawks were held to five points last year in a loss against Los Angeles after scoring just six points against Long Island two years ago.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN LOW The Denver Outlaws were held to the fewest goals in the teams three-year history during a 16-6 loss against the Los Angeles Riptide last Saturday night at the Home Depot Center. The team was limited to just six goals on 32 shots as the Riptide held a commanding 63-32 advantage in the category.
SUPER SIX With a 16-11 victory over the New Jersey Pride on Thursday night, the Philadelphia Barrage recorded their sixth win of the season and tied the Denver Outlaws for the most wins in the league this year. The Barrage have won six or more games in four of the last five seasons after winning just seven games in their first three years.
THIRD TIMES THE CHARM Los Angeles Riptide rookie attackman Kevin Huntley became the first player in Major League Lacrosse history to win the same weekly award three consecutive weeks after being named as the Cascade Rookie of the Week following the Riptides 16-6 win on Saturday. Over the last three games, he has scored 14 goals with 4 assists.
TWICE AS NICE The Boston Cannons had two plays ranked among the top ten plays on ESPNs SportsCenter on Saturday night after their 13-12 victory over Long Island. Matt Poskay recorded the seventh-best play with one of his six goals in the win while John Christmas game-winning goal with five seconds was rated as the third-best play.
HOME SWEET HOME Following their 10-9 victory over San Francisco two weeks ago, the Denver Outlaws have improved to a perfect 5-0 at INVESCO Field at Mile High this season. Since joining the league before the 2006 season, the Outlaws have recorded a 14-3 home record, including a 10-1 mark over the last two seasons.
INSTANT IMPACT Chicago Machine rookie Steven Brooks has been a welcome addition to the teams offense since being drafted with the sixth overall pick in the MLL Collegiate Draft. With 26 points, he leads all MLL rookies and is tied for 16th place overall in the league. He has scored 17 goals, including a two-point marker, and has eight assists.
REACHING TRIPLE DIGITS With one goal in the Bayhawks loss against the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday night, attackman Andrew Buggs Combs recorded the 100th goal of his career. A 2001 gradauate of the University of Maryland, Combs has scored 18 goals this season for the Bayhawks.
