Albany River Rats News Release
Albany N.Y. âThe Albany River Rats have announced today that the club will open the home portion of its 10th Anniversary season at Pepsi Arena on Saturday, October 12, 2002. The American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils will face-off against an undetermined opponent at 7:00PM.
The club's 10TH Annual Pre-Game Block Party featuring live music, games, prize giveaways, and other family oriented activities will begin on South Pearl Street at 3:30PM, and continues inside "The Pepsi" when the doors open at 6:00PM. The team is planning an elaborate pre-game presentation honoring special moments and achievements throughout the first decade of Albany River Rats hockey.
Beginning on July 1, 2002 fans can log on to the River Rats website at www.albanyriverrats.com and vote for the top moments in club history over the past 10 years. The promotion gives the fans a voice in acknowledging the top highlights in franchise history that will be announced at 10 specific games during the 2002-03 regular season. The Top Moment in Albany River Rats History will be announced prior to the team's final home match-up at Pepsi Arena in April.
Season Ticket and Partial Ticket Packages for the River Rats' 10TH Anniversary season are now on sale, and if purchased by July 1, 2002, fans will receive the option of a 10% discount or a FREE season pass to the Great Escape/Splashwater Kingdom amusement park.
