River City Rascals News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The River City Rascals dropped a heartbreaker to the Evansville Otters in their series finale on Thursday night, falling 2-1 in the rubbermatch at Bosse Field. Elijah MacNamee scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the 11th inning. The win gave the Otters the series victory.

After back-to-back hits from Jack Meggs and Ryan Long in the third inning, MacNamee put the Otters in front on an RBI fielder's choice. Evansville would maintain a 1-0 lead until the eighth, when Nolan Meadows tied the game with a two-out solo shot.

The game went to extra-innings, and after both teams failed to drive in runners in scoring position in the tenth, the International Tie-Breaker Rule went into effect in the 11th. With each team starting the inning with a runner at second, the Rascals again failed to score, before MacNamee scored the winning run on a pair of wild pitches.

Rascals starter Brendan Feldmann allowed just a single run over eight innings, striking out eight in a no-decision.Otters starter Jake Welch was also stellar, working eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. Otters reliever Drew Beyer (2-3) earned the win, while Rascals reliever Andrew Vernon (4-2) took the loss.

The Rascals (47-35) continue their road trip in northern Kentucky for a three-game weekend set against the Florence Freedom, beginning tomorrow night. First pitch for the series opener is set for 6:05 p.m. CDT from UC Health Stadium.
