Rascals Pour It On, Beat RiverHawks, 8-3
The River City Rascals broke a scoreless tie with a four-run second inning and went on to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 8-3, at Marinelli Field.
After the teams waited through a 32-minute rain delay in the top of the first, River City took control of the game. Rafael Ornelas singled in a run in the second. Three more scored on a play which began with Justin Christians single to left field and ended with two errors by catcher Aaron McEachran.
Rockford starter Adam Palmer (0-3) lasted two innings.
The RiverHawks got a run back in the fourth on Ryan Larsons RBI single, but left the bases loaded. Rockford left 10 men on, six in scoring position.
Aaron Ledbetter (2-2) pitched into the eighth inning for the win. Dave Guntorius pitched him out of a jam and finished for his first save.
The RiverHawks will try to avoid the sweep at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. Miller Lite sponsors Dollar Beer Night.
All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 the Hub and at the team website. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 12th season.
