
Rascals Drop 10th Straight, Fall 5-3 at Cook County

The Rascals extended a franchise record losing streak by dropping their 10th straight game, falling to Cook County 5-3 at Hawkinson Ford Field in Crestwood, Illinois.
The Cheetahs scored a pair of runs in the 1st on a solo homer from Warren Gaspar and an RBI double from Kevin Brown.
The Rascals scored their 1st run of the game in the 4th on an RBI groundout from Adam Fazio, scoring Michael Conner from 3rd base.
Sean Bischofberger's 2-run double in the 5th inning then gave Cook County a 4-1 lead before the Rascals closed the gap to 4-3 in the 6th inning on a 2-run double by Corey Jager.
The Cheetahs added an insurance run in the 8th on an RBI double from Zack Riera.
Steve Shippey (0-2) pitched 5 innings for the loss, while David Campos (1-1) earned his 1st win of the season for the Cheetahs. Brett Stevens pitched the final three innings for his 1st save of the year.
The Rascals were led by Corey Jager, who finished with three hits, two doubles, and two RBI. Michael Conner added a pair of singles and two stolen bases while scoring two of the Rascals runs.
The Rascals will be in Rockford on Friday for the start of a three-game series with the Riverhawks. Left-hander Dan Shouse will get the start for the Rascals in a 7:05 pm game that will be heard on 104.5 FM KSLQ.
