Rangers Prepare for 2022 NHL Draft

The 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft takes place this Thursday and Friday, July 7-8, at the Bell Centre in Quebec, home of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens.

All seven rounds of the Draft will be televised in Canada on Sportsnet (English) and TVA Sports (French) beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. In the United States, Thursday's first round will be televised on ESPN while rounds 2-7 will begin Friday at 11 a.m. ET and will be televised on the NHL Network.

Current Rangers that are first-time eligible players to be selected in the NHL Draft are Andrew LeBlanc, Jacob LeBlanc, Adrian Misaljevic, Antonino Pugliese, Trent Swick and Marcus Vandenberg.

Additionally, four Rangers that had strong campaigns this past season and could hear their names selected are Pavel Čajan, Mitchell Martin, Joseph Serpa and Reid Valade.

Rangers Prospects that were listed on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters are Cutter Gauthier (3) and George Fegaras (82). Rangers Prospects that were listed on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of international skaters are Mattias Hävelid (19), Filip Mešár (20) and Tomáš Hamara (21)

Since 1969, the Kitchener Rangers have had 165 players selected in the NHL Draft, which is the fourth-most of any OHL club. The highest two selections were Gabriel Landeskog (2011) and Brian Bellows (1982), who were both selected second overall. The most Rangers selected in a draft was five in 1998. Impressively, 21 Rangers have been selected in the NHL Draft by 14 different NHL clubs in just the past 10 years.

Most recently, current Rangers' forward Francesco Pinelli was selected in the second round (42nd overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2021 NHL Draft and Rangers defenseman Roman Schmidt was selected in the third round (96th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Kitchener Rangers drop the puck on the 60th anniversary season beginning September 30th at The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
