Kitchener, Ont. - The Kitchener Rangers announced today that Brad Flynn has been hired as Assistant Coach.

Flynn, 38, comes to Kitchener with an array of experience having coached in all three leagues in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Most recently he was behind the bench with the Saginaw Spirit as Associate Coach in 2021-22. He spent three seasons as Assistant Coach with the Red Deer Rebels (2018-21) of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and one season as Assistant Coach with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (2015-16) of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

"We would like to welcome Brad and his family to the Rangers," said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. "Brad has a wealth of experience having coached in all three CHL leagues. His experience and passion will be of huge benefit to the development of our players moving forward."

Impressively, Flynn has played a critical role in player development having worked with 21 current National Hockey League (NHL) players, including two first-round draft picks, Alexander Alexeyev (2018 round 1, 31st overall by Washington Capitals) and Pavel Mintyukov (2022 round 1, 10th overall by Anaheim Ducks).

"I am ecstatic to join such a great team and one of the most historic franchises is in the Canadian Hockey League," said Flynn. "I feel privileged to be a part of this team. I'm really looking forward to meeting the staff and players and coaching in front of the best fan base in the league."

The Glasgow, Nova Scotia native played Junior A hockey in the Maritimes before suiting up for the University of Southern Maine for one year and then at Brock University for three seasons. He then went on to play one season with Huntsville of the Southern Pro League before pursuing a career behind the bench beginning in 2012.

Flynn joins Head Coach, Jussi Ahokas and Associate Coach, Jeff Kyrzakos to complete the Rangers coaching staff this season.
